Service Information

Museum Hours

The Museum is open Tuesday through Sunday from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and is closed to the public on Mondays.

Art Library

The Museum's art library is open to the public Tuesday through Sunday from 9:30 am to 4:50 pm and is closed on Mondays and national holidays. As a research adjunct to the Museum, the library is dedicated to the collection of various art-related materials. At present, the library has more than 18,540 books in Chinese and Western languages and more than 2,270 videotapes on the arts, which are accessible to the public for research purposes. The library is non-circulating, but users who require information may photocopy materials in the library or apply for permission to photograph from the holdings.

Art Resource Classrooms

PictureThe Museum offers access to its studios and classrooms to schools, community organizations, and other groups for various art-related activities, thereby becoming an art educational facility by extension. Furthermore, various art activities for educational purposes are planned in conjunction with special exhibitions and events. The Museum offers studio and classroom space for educational activities by application. Interested parties are encouraged to call the Educational Services Center at (07) 555-0331, extensions 262, for further information.

Tour Services

1. Recorded Tours: The Museum provides recorded tours for special exhibitions. By providing current identification as security, visitors can borrow audio devices from the Educational Services Center and enjoy "individual" tours.

2. Scheduled Tours: The Museum provides scheduled tours to the public every Wednesday and Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm and Sunday at 10:30 am, beginning from the Educational Services Center. No reservations are required and no limit is set for the number of people.

Picture3. Tours-by-Appointment: To promote the education of the arts, the Museum provides tours to schools and groups by appointment. The Museum offers tours in English, French, Japanese, and other Western languages as well as Mandarin Chinese and Taiwanese. Group tours must be scheduled two weeks in advance. For more information on availability and scheduling, interested parties should contact the Education Department by mail or telephone (extension 241).

4. Computers: Located at the Educational Services Center and on each floor are touch-sensitive computer screens that provide information on indoor and outdoor facilities as well as current programs and exhibitions.

5. On-the-Air: The Museum, in conjunction with the Kaohsiung Broadcasting Station, presents the program "You and the Arts" in Chinese every Saturday morning at 11:00 on FM 94.3.

Lectures

In coordination with certain exhibitions and events, the Museum often presents lectures and programs on art-related subjects in the lecture hall located in the basement level on Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

Films

In the area next to gallery B01, the Museum presents a public viewing of a videotape on art, artists, and museums of the world every Saturday and Sunday morning at 10.

Gift Shop

The Museum gift shop is located on the right-hand side of the lobby on the ground floor and offers Museum publications, souvenirs, art books, and other items for sale.

Restaurant

The Museum restaurant is located to the left of the outdoor performance area and serves light meals, snacks, and hot and cold beverages.

Facilities for the Physically Challenged

The Museum is equipped with facilities to provide access specifically for those physically challenged and includes parking spaces, ramps, elevators, and restrooms.

Those who wish to learn more about the Museum and its events can access the following sources;

1. Information Center: Located on the left side of the main lobby, the Center provides information on Museum-related exhibitions, activities, and lectures to visitors. The Center also provides information regarding art appreciation to the general public.

2. Monthly newsletter: The Museum's newsletter is published monthly and is free-of-charge at the Educational Services Desk. The newsletter is also available by mail by sending an NT$42-stamped, self-addressed envelope to the Education Department.
