Odyssey – Solo Exhibition of Chin Wu

2019.04.13 - 2019.06.02 KMFA Galleries 403, Multi-Purpose Room

Chin Wu's Trace series mainly uses Western media to interpret the feelings of the inner Eastern viewpoint. When Chin Wu was in the process of creation, he treated his body as a medium, and let the subconscious reveal as much as possible, and then connected the energy of the outside world, let the body become the carrier of energy, and let it write on the canvas like a pen. In this way, one can find the truth of the inner self, that is, tracing the source - the origin of the inner link to the universe. Therefore, the process of creation is an action, a performance, and an intuitive instinct to present on the canvas, like a stream of consciousness jumping between images. Looking at Chin Wu’'s earlier artworks, from the pursuit of the balance of the picture, the color, and the texture, to the turning point and speed of the rhythm, all of the recent “Trace” series embraced a layer of spiritual atmosphere. In other words, each piece of work corresponds to a spiritual universe.

Tracing the original content is to directly look into the root of the heart, meditating on the boundary between consciousness and subconsciousness. The river with surreal images and color lines enters the space where the focus is concentrated and the time seems to stop, and records the track left by the energy of life. Each piece is the time slice of the author's life. It is unique because it is the awakening of life. The current experience of life's ups and downs, as well as various roles, positive beliefs, dark fear in subconscious, perfection and completeness, and the identified and the unknown; they are all experience of inner emotions. His solo exhibition “Chin Wu’s Contemporary Art Solo Exhibition –Odyssey,” with oil paint and mixed media images stacking on canvas, with rich layers, tells Chin Wu’s contemporary art stories.
