Publisher’s Statement

The Globalization of Science and Technology The Internationalization of Art
Intel has presented its latest Micro Processor. Taiwanese companies must catch up, or else they will be facing a dead end. The 2007 Venice Biennale has announced a new topic. Taiwanese artists must catch up, or else they will be facing a dead end.
Windows is the most popular operating system in the world, so Taiwanese engineers must develop new software via Windows. The biennale is a strong trend in contemporary art, so Taiwan must hold its own biennale.
Technical know-how is worth a lot, and we must do everything we can to get it. Since Western technology and science is very “advanced”, Western art is also “advanced”, and we must do everything we can to import them.
A Taiwanese company has obtained the exclusive right to distribute German refractory materials, improving the quality of Taiwan's smelting industry. Taiwanese art critics have obtained the exclusive right to interpret contemporary Western aesthetic theory, elevating Taiwan's contemporary art discourse to a new level.

Taiwan’s status as a nation is not internationally recognized. It is often forced or voluntarily yielded during international exchanges. Certain unnamed paradoxes have further strengthened the “rightfully and willingly yielding'' state of mind. Above is a simple analogy between technology and culture showing the paradoxical state referring to international exchanges of fine arts.
