自2001年以來，高雄國際貨櫃藝術節已成為台灣最具指標性的城市藝術活動之一。以承載港口記憶的貨櫃為創作媒材，將高雄百年海港的產業、歷史與文化能量轉化為城市空間中的大型藝術裝置。二十多年來，貨櫃藝術節讓藝術走入公共場域、碼頭與市民的生活，見證了城市景觀與文化想像的變化與茁壯。

2025年以「愛耍廢」為主題，延伸高雄作為海港城市的物質循環經驗，重新思考「廢棄物」與「再生」之間的可能性。從貨櫃、工業廢材、海洋垃圾到生活中被丟棄之物的再利用，以創意回應永續議題，將「廢」轉化為重新想像與創造的起點，展現環境、城市與藝術之間的生命循環。

今年匯聚8組來自台灣、日本、法國與丹麥的藝術家及創作團隊，他們從各自的視角訴說城市生活的故事，展現多重的敘事與國際視野。2025高雄國際貨櫃藝術節透過貼近城市肌理的媒材，將藝術融入生活，開啟海港環境與文化之間的共好未來想像。

Eco Love, Zero Waste
2025 Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival

Since 2001, the Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival has grown into one of Taiwan’s most iconic urban art events. Using containers—symbols of the city’s port memory—as creative media, the festival transforms Kaohsiung’s industrial, historical, and cultural energy into large-scale public art. Over the past two decades, it has brought art into everyday life, reshaping the cityscape and expanding Kaohsiung’s cultural imagination.

“Eco Love, Zero Waste” extends Kaohsiung’s experience as a harbor city to explore the possibilities between “waste” and “renewal.” Using reused containers, industrial scraps, marine debris and discarded everyday materials, artists creatively address the concept of sustainability and reframe waste as a new start for regeneration and imagination.

This year’s festival features eight artist and design teams from Taiwan, Japan, France, and Denmark. Each team offers a distinct perspective on urban life, presenting diverse narratives. Through materials rooted in the texture of the city, The 2025 Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival integrates art into everyday spaces, and opens up new possibilities for a sustainable future between the harbor and culture.

自2001年起，每兩年一次的「高雄國際貨櫃藝術節」，除了是城市的節慶，也同時呈現了這座海港城長年積累的文化底蘊。第12屆的高雄國際貨櫃藝術節以「海口味」為想像，將「大港」鮮明的意象和「貨櫃」、「港」、「城」以及「海洋」重新連結，創造一個訴說著海港語言的藝術節慶。
 
回望高雄的歷史，始終與海洋及海港有關：19世紀時「打狗」開始築港，縱貫而穿的「哈瑪星」載著物料直直地駛向港口。藉由鐵路、港灣的發展帶動了聚落、市町的建設。駁船、斑斕的舊市街構築了這塊土地的根基。隨著大時代的演進，當小小的沙洲海灣成長為碩大的商港，「打狗」訴說的故事也成了「港都」的曾經。縱然港口的風貌幾經流轉，從未曾改變的是這座城市與海洋、與港口的關係；「港口」成為了這塊土地極其重要的城市風景，也宣告著臺灣的「大港」之名。作為臨港城市，傍海而生、倚海而居，城市的性格與海洋早已融為一體。
 
循著這樣的思路，我們以「海口味」為題展開本次貨櫃藝術節的想像。「海口味」（hái kháu bī） 是大眾耳熟能詳的用詞。這一用詞也被廣泛延伸：形容食物的鮮味、聲口中獨有的「口氣」，也可以是沿海的風景、氣味，乃至地方人文、海島風土累積起來的一切日常。它自感官的描述而開始，進一步成了一種所有人都能共享、一種貼近庶民的土地經驗，「海口味」訴說著一種認同、一種群體與個人意識並存的概念。並在這個概念之下，以「引水入港」、「向海而歌」、「五米停留」及「鮮『未』！」四個港口意象化為創作的子題詮釋海港的風貌。
 
除了藉由藝術的演示刻畫這塊土地的肌理，我們也希望「高雄國際貨櫃藝術節」與這座城市如同海港與海洋的關係，成為文化匯流的碼頭，持續扮演城市對未來的想像、創意的彰顯，以及公眾對話的重要平台，提供「港都」如浪般未曾間斷，無止盡的生命能量－持續變革、綿延翻轉的動能。


SEA FLAVOURED－Sway forward in Waves with Takao
 
The biannual Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival since 2001 has stood for the city art celebration also highlighting cultural layers deep-rooted in this long historical port town.  By picturing “sea flavoured” of imagination, the 12th Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival 2023 refreshes connections for the dynamic images of the Great Port to “containers”,  “harbour”, “city” and “ocean” so to speak as a carnival of sea art.
 
Without doubt, Kaohsiung history relates to the ocean and harbour from where it started: Back in the 19th century when “Takao” built its first harbour, engine “Hamasen” made its way straight through, carrying stocks to the destination at the harbour.  Constructions of towns and cities followed the booming of the railway and harbour. Transporting boats and abundant town streets piled up the foundation of the land.  As time evolves, the small sandbank bay has grown into a large-scale trading harbour; consequently, the old storytelling “Takao” became the memory of the constantly innovative “Port City”. Despite the continually transitional port landscape, the city has an everlasting link with the ocean and harbour. This particular land being a synthesis of the port and the city earns its fame and name, the Great Port of Taiwan. To survive and live closely on the seaside, the oceanic characteristics of the city as a port is destined.  
 
Following this cultural and historical context, we expand imaginary output under the title “Sea Flavoured” for the current Arts Festival.  As a folk phrase commonly used, “Sea Flavoured” has various extensive meanings.  It interprets the fresh flavour of food, a certain tone of speaking and the seaside scenery or smell.  It can even refer to all daily impressions of local people and places on the island surrounded by the sea.  Based on sensational descriptions, it carries furthermore down-to-earth life experiences shared among ordinary people on the same land.  “Sea Flavoured” embodies a notion of identity, collective memories, and individual state of mind (or consciousness) that juxtaposes with each other.  The embodiment spreads into four subtopics of imaging harbours, each representing a unique port view: “Pilot into Harbour”, “Ode to Ocean”, “Safety Stop” an “Fresh Future”.
 
To carve on the body of culture with art thoughts and forms is not the sole objective of Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival.  Like harbour to the sea, the Arts Festival also targets as a pier to the city where cultures converge. It serves a long-term key platform that motivates dreams for the future, practice of creativity and mass conversations in the means of continuously cycling and revolutionary energy activation. May the Port City keep it up with ceaseless waves of life.

范布倫之星」是福爾摩斯劇中一顆關鍵破案的超新星，但現實中卻是一顆因劇情而虛構出的星星。回到遠古航海時期，星星在南島文化中是指引前行的光，但同時也是靈魂最後的歸處，所以在達悟文化中有一說是：星星是「天上的眼睛」。

2021年，第11屆高雄國際貨櫃藝術節面臨了世界的變革，因疫情而導致的港口卡關、航運阻塞，以及全球性缺料缺櫃等。在一櫃難求的狀態下，讓我們一再省思過往的經濟模式與生活態度，透過「范布倫之星」為想像，開展出一種「不在場的貨櫃」意象，藉由類貨櫃媒材的使用，保存了貨櫃的靈魂，也翻轉了貨櫃過往的厚重感，創造出一種航向新世界的輕盈，及帶出人們對於未來的期盼與希望。

「我們每個人心裡都有一顆星星」，在後疫情的時代中，除了以更謙卑的姿態來面對及回望自然外，更要讓內在的星光，重新引導我們看見未來的新盼望。而2021高雄國際貨櫃藝術節「范布倫之星」，將以一種穿越過往與未來的意象，藉由「光」來乘載城市的回憶與希望，織界出銀河星空下的一花一天堂，同時也開啟了寰宇世界與地球母土間的篇章。

「銀閃閃樂園」，是一場獻給時間與智慧的藝術活動，透過藝術設計創造連結，連結不同年齡層的朋友，以及連結現在和未來的自己。銀閃閃的銀髮族不再是被遺忘的族群，我們希望邀請所有的市民一起探索這個充滿生命可能性-銀光閃耀的奇妙世界，與我們的未來在此相遇。

高雄是一個海洋的城市，海洋的生命亙古與天地始，作為一個貨櫃港，貨櫃象徵著人的生命，行旅間雖有其使用期限，但正如同海浪波波相續不間斷，綿延了海洋的無止盡的生命力量，我們讓屆齡的貨櫃，透過設計改造再創新生，就是我們希望提供給人們面對高齡老化社會的一種創意的思維－一種勇敢前行無法打敗的精神力量。

藝術節創意演繹與改造超過20個貨櫃，創造前所未有的空間體驗，由藝術家設計師從視覺藝術、服裝到音樂的跨域同台演出。在體驗館的部份更推出集合共老宅、高齡實驗室、愛叮噹樂齡健身屋等，本次的貨櫃藝術節將統合建築、設計、藝術、生活的全觀性內容，透過藝術的具體行動，作為宣示高雄邁向創意樂齡友善城市的一大步，並為當代世界提出來自這個城市的主張。

兩年一度的高雄國際貨櫃藝術節，自2001年起舉辦至今已歷七屆，貨櫃承載的人類文明發展中多元而複雜之概念，被來自世界各地藝術家以各種各樣的方式表現，創造出令人驚嘆的美學創意。近年伴隨著全球對人類環境的關注及反思，貨櫃藝術節也通過貨櫃作為載體，多元涵納關於城市居住、空間、城市發展等的多重議題。因此，「明日方舟：2015高雄國際貨櫃藝術節」試圖展開對居住與環境的探討，邀請建築師將貨櫃打造成一艘承載內省及希望的方舟。

以方舟為名的貨櫃不僅僅是一個實質建物(載體)的呈現，也是收納各種思考及想像的盒子，這樣的想像聚焦未來人類之多元生存狀態，從反思人類所居處之地球出發，到因應各種極端環境之生活概念表述，直至為創傷後的人們提供身心安頓之場域，翻轉貨櫃做為工業廢棄物的舊有印象，讓我們對賴以為生的城市有著更多體悟。

The biennially held Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival has been through 7 editions since 2001. The container encompasses all the various and diverse concepts in the development of human civilizations, presented in a variety of ways by artists coming from around the world, to create a spectacle of aesthetic creativity. In recent years accompanied by the global concern and attention to the human environment, the containers in the Container Arts Festival also become a multi-culvert carrier of urban living, space, urban development as well as other issues. Therefore, “Ark of Tomorrow: 2015 Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival” attempts to encourage a discussion  between living and the environment, inviting architects to design an ark, carrying the introspective reflection and hope, from containers. Containers in the name of Ark are not only presented in a physical structure (carrier), it is also a box that incorporates a variety of thoughts and imaginations. Such imaginations focus on the future humanity’s multiple state of existence, from the reflection on the Earth that humans reside on, to the concept of the diversity of life in extreme environments, and finally to the place people provide for the body and mind to be sheltered after trauma. This turns over the stereotypical image of the container as an industrial waste, allowing us to have a better realization of the city we rely our lives upon.

兩年一度的高雄國際貨櫃藝術節，自2001年起舉辦至今已歷六屆，貨櫃所承載的人類文明發展歷程中多元而複雜的概念，被來自世界各地的藝術家以各式各樣的方式表現。這些藝術創作以貨櫃為載體呈現在觀眾眼前，有的則可讓觀眾置身貨櫃空間內，進一步以視覺以外的感官，體驗藝術家的想法，然而這些作為藝術作品呈現的貨櫃，並非以提供人類日常活動的機能性空間為目的。

2013高雄國際貨櫃藝術節的舉辦，試著重新審視貨櫃的特性與人類社會未來可能的發展趨勢，提出另一種貨櫃藝術的發展方向—「可以居」的貨櫃空間。邀請多組國內外建築師與空間設計師提案並進行原型實作的可居貨櫃空間，實踐「生活設計‧貨櫃建築」理念，在駁二藝術特區展出，讓貨櫃成為聯結創意設計與生活空間的介面。

The Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival is a biennial event that has been held six times since 2001. In the previous Festivals, the participating artists around the world used shipping containers to present in front of viewers diverse and complicated concepts developed throughout human civilizations. Some of their works even invited viewers to come inside the containers to explore the artists’ concepts through the senses other than sight. However, the works in the previous Festivals were presented as works of art, not functional spaces for human daily activities.

By contrast, the Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival 2013 attempts to re-examine the characteristics of containers and possible trends of human society, suggesting another development direction for container arts—“Inhabitable” container spaces.
“The Inhabitables” project, based on the concept of “lifestyle design‧container architecture”, invites several domestic and international architects and space designers to design inhabitable container spaces and then produce the prototypes of their designs. Exhibited in Pier-2 Art District during the Festival this year, their works epitomize the seamless integration of creative designs and living spaces.

新式幸福風：本屆貨櫃藝術節以「新式幸福風：藝術‧家」為創作徵件主題，實體貨櫃創作共徵得12組來自臺灣、西班牙、德國、義大利等地的優秀隊伍，此外還有美國國務院贊助邀請來自高雄姊妹市包括檀香山、聖安東尼、陶沙與邁阿密的藝術家。為擴大展出面向，本展中以「我的完美貨櫃」為題徵求的創意貨櫃模型與由貨櫃車改裝的台灣文學行動博物館也將共襄盛舉。
 
自從2001年開始，持續兩年一度舉辦的「高雄國際貨櫃藝術節」已然成為高雄的城市特色。2011年貨櫃藝術節以「新式幸福風：藝術‧家」為創作徵件主題，透過平凡的貨櫃創造一個跨越時空的「家」的想像。用嶄新的眼光看顧我們生活的質地，並用關注家的眼光與愛來看待我們的城市與大地。本次實體貨櫃創作共計有12組來自臺灣、西班牙、德國、義大利與美國的優秀隊伍。本屆更獲美國國務院贊助邀請來自高雄姊妹市包括檀香山、聖安東尼、陶沙與邁阿密的藝術家。另外，也以「我的完美貨櫃」為題，徵求迷你創意模型貨櫃展出，臉書粉絲專頁更邀全民一起參與「我與貨櫃的N種相遇」圖文徵集活動。同時本展邀請國立台灣文學館ㄧ同參與展出，「台灣文學行動博物館」藉由外以加大空間的貨櫃改裝空間藝術、內以結合多媒體，展示內容豐富的台灣文學。

The Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival has been held once every two years since 2001, and has become a distinctive Kaohsiung event. 

The 2011 Container Arts Festival has a theme of "Artbitat" The artists have created visions of the home transcending time and space using very mundane cargo containers. They scrutinize the background textures of our lives from new perspectives, and examine cities and the Earth with the outlook and love of persons concerned about their home. The 12 outstanding teams participating in this year's festival are from Taiwan, Spain, France, Germany, Italy, and the United States. This year, artists from Kaohsiung's sister cities of Honolulu, San Antonio, Tulsa, and Miami obtained sponsorship from the US Department of State with the Visual Arts Initiative Program. In addition, miniature model containers on the theme of "my perfect container" will be displayed at the festival, and a Facebook fan page will invite the people of Taiwan to participate in the "N Types of Encounters between Containers and Me" illustration and writing contribution activity. The Mobile Museum of Taiwan Literature, which consists of a modified container truck, will participate in the festival. 
We look forward to the Container Arts Festival helping bringing about an aesthetic revolution featuring everyday poetry and launching an unending human journey.
